This blows
Yep, fan problems.
Squeaky fan belt, remove to check/adjust shims and this is what I find. Ordered new outer pulley half but am a little concerned with the 'grooving' in the fan side pulley half. Comments or thoughts? ![]() |

I have seen this before. At some point the pulley came loose. If you can put the outer pulley half on the fan and turn it even a little you will have to replace the fan. I looked into having the grooves welded up and ground down to flat but not even the most experienced welders I know could gaurantee it would last.
PM me for a good place to get a fan if you need it.

How many shims did you pull out of there when you discovered this? You should have at least 6 or 7. I can't remember the exact ammount. Too few and this is what it does to the fan hub.

I have had to weld several of these that have had that same thing happen. I think it mostly has to do with improper tourque and shim alignment

Ben, did the weld solution work? I see SWA911 looked at this option too.
Had correct amount of shims (6) - I know, they were replaced with the engine R&R. Thought all was good until the belt began slipping. Thought I just needed to re-distribute the shims for correct tightness until I found the dreaded 'groove'. |
