Duck tail questions

Do you guys still use the stock rubber seal that attaches to the latch panel area?
It seems to be keeping the deck lid from closing all the way.

What do you use to keep the deck lid open? Any options other than a prop rod?

The rubber strip is there on my car. Is it possible that you need to add shims to lower the latch on the lid?

As far as keeping the lid open, I think a prop is the best option. You can double up on the decklid shocks, but it causes the lid to sit crooked when it's open. This could eventually lead to warping of the lid. I made a slick little prop with a carbon fiber arrow shaft that hinges off of one of the small bolts on the motor mount and tucks away nicely in the back of the engine compartment.

Ron,
I have the rubber in place, I did however remove the rubber height adjusters. It seals well and sits gust right. I might have just gotten lucky.
As for holding it open, I have the stock lift shock. Works like it's suposed to.

i use the stock strip of rubber and a worn out lift shock since the std ones cause the deck lid to open like a jack-in-the-box

dont use it

I dont have the rubber seal, but I did buy the deck lid shocks from ebay 3 years ago, and the damn thing still springs open when I pull the latch...

It did spring open now and then, but why i did that was because the latch and plunger were worn. I didnt want to believe that but i came to terms with having to spend the money to get a new one.....SO I EBAY'ed IT!!! And Saved some dough!!

I would get a new latch, new shocks and get the rubber if its cheap...I hate carrying around a pole to hold open the lid....

I had to ask myself, Am I that cheap that I cant afford new shocks for the lid...

Thanks for the info guys.
I guess I just need to mess with it a bit more. I think I might try drilling a worn out shock and use a clevis pin.
