Question 996 gearbox concerns.. slow shifting/ oil's / shifters...

I was concerned with the shifting on my 996, and wanted to clarify, to end my worries...

1.In first gear and second gear, they occasionally pop out of gear, and it seems to happen only during clutch release/engagement.
2. In first gear, I really have to make sure the shifter is all the way up to the last of its travel, otherwise it may not engage or pop out.
3. Like all gearboxes there a little challenging when cold. Id like to know the required specs for a gear oil, so i can do some searching for alternatives. What is your take on the gearbox oil factory, and aftermarket brands?
4. Will adjustment of anything help my situation?
5. Could a bad clutch slave do anything? i was told by a porsche guy that they go bad if the car sits a while...idk...

I have tried as best as possible to describe my "situations". If a fellow porsche enthusiast has come across any similar situations, and has a resolution it would be a great help. Any positive input is greatly appreciated. If im leaving anything out, let me know.
Thanks!

Check out the link.... Yours could be a easy fix but since I have little experience with the newer stuff I cant really help you out. Could be you just need a simple adj of your cables.

The boxsters and 996 911's sometimes have the 1st-2nd pop out problem and these guys have the fix

I will check the cables and adjustments. That link you gave me looks pricey. What would it cost to do that 1/2gear work?

I've got a 996 and usually head over to the 996 forum over at Rennlist.com. That forum is very active and would most likely give you a quick answer.

Here's the link:
