sill re install info

Hi
I recently had my car painted and am now replacing the metal sills. They were secured by plastic rivets. I've bought replacement rivets to reinstall the sills. Can anyone explain how to re install these rivets. I've looked at the rivets and something tells me that I am going to need a special tool.
Thanks in advance,
Mark

I thought so, too, until someone told me the stem is pushed IN instead of pulled OUT like a conventional rivet. I used a pair of needle nose pliers to keep the base of the plastic rivet snug against the sill and a hammer to give the stem a sharp quick hit to push it in. Once it's most of the way in and it has forced open the base, you can push it all the way in. Just be sure to hit the stem straight on and not with a glancing blow.
