"Rattlecan" for Guards Red?

Anyone know if there is available any commercial "rattlecan" paint that approximates Guards Red?
Thanks.

Paintscratch.com

Very pleased with their paint. Get the single stage, put on enough paint, wet sand and polish.

I think you'll be pleased, I have done many projects using their paints.

Good Luck

I just last week, bought some rattle can paint to paint a small part fot my 88 Guards red Carrera. I was not concerned aboout an exact match ...so I went to Lowes and got Rustolieum professionial in safety red. came back and painted the parts. A couple days later I compaired the parts to the car sitting out in the sun and was amazed at the color match very , very close.

Toyota Super Red is a very close match for Guards Red.

88Carrera,

I have a brand new, never used can of the Paintscratch.com in Guards
Red and also a new Clear from them too. I bought it for my '87 944 but sold the car before I ever used it. Its two years old but has been sitting in my cabinet all that time. I think it was $25 for the red and another $11 for the clear plus swhipping. I'll let you have both for $20 plus shipping.

The Rustoleum or Toyota paint sounds promising and I'd have tried it if I'd known about it. But if you just have to have Guards Red, I can help you save a few bucks.

I can vouch for the quality between paintscratch and the hardware store variety. You are getting much more than an exact color match.

You get pro/automotive grade paint which has more color solids and much better resistance to fading, flaking and peeling if applied correctly.

I used the Rustoleum product to cover some "rust remediation” under the battery and was astounded at the match

88Carrera

Many auto paint supply shops will custom mix to your paint code and make up spray cans for you.

I'm in Denver and have used Pro Painters supply in Englewood for GP White.

It cost me about $35.00 for a pint of paint, and i15 minutes of wait time. It made up about three and one half of the tall size cans.

There is probably a shop if Fort Collins or Boulder that would do the same.

Joe

Rustoleum "Carnival Red" is not bad for non-critical areas (rocker panels, front spoiler, etc.)

To all who responded, thanks for taking the time to do so. I went ahead and ordered the paint from Paintscratch.com, although I should have read all of the posts (especially those from Dan in Pasadena and joefrantz) before I did so.

Well for what its worth, I took my spray cans of GUards Red and Clear Coat to UPS this afternoone attempting to ship them to CabMike.

No deal! UPS informed me that no one can ship aerosol cans since 9/11. They are considered hazardous. I responded, "They were shipped to me". The guy said you have to be specially licensed to ship them and that no one including the USPS will do it. So......sorry Mike. Guess you're outta luck.

Anyone local to L.A. that is interested the same deal applies. $25 for both. Maybe I should run a FS or Craigslist ad?

Paintscratch is licensed to use the mails for this purpose. An ordinary indiviual is not. Makes sense.
