I have Infinity Kappa components for 'BOTH' front and back. Behind my seat is a self-powered Inifinity Basslink; for head unit, I have a non-powered Clarion; head unit and and the 2 component sets are driven by a Precision Power amp. With the top down, I can still enjoy the muzak at high speed (even with SSI and early exhaust! One day, I'll try Dynos. p.s., I emailed a pelican member who used to mess around with custom speaker setup. He claims that Dynos 'were' excellent; so that deferred me from purchasing them for now.

With your Basslink in the back, do you worry about your car getting broken into?

might be anal, but I would like to attempt to keep as close to original as possible, i.e. using blaupunkt. I had one in my IROC years ago and always liked the sound. I would like to used a setup with tape in head unit adn cd controller for a changer mounted somewhere else?

With the top up, the unit is barely noticeable. 2nd, I figure if a punk wants to break in, they will break into your car. My car is a daily driver, but I DO PAY ATTENTION TO WHERE I PARK. Stories I have heard: 1. Someone stole a 'radio shack brand' radio, which was worth probably $20.00 --- go figure! 2. a Doctor left the office and headed for his reserved parking. From a distance, he could see his space empty. He started shaking his head as he thought he had parked somewhere else. Being definite that he had parked his car in his reserved parking, he continued walking. Guess what he found in the middle of his parking space? The steering wheel of his car with the 'gorilla bar' still installed!!!. . Apparently, the thief came with his own wheel, uncrewed the factory wheel, and drove off. Guess it was quicker for the thief to uncrew the wheel vs. hacksawing a portion of it.

Do you have any pics of the mount? I'm short so I figure I could stick it behind my seat.

I have an '83 Cab and I will try to post th elinks of my Basslink and amp that I have in my trunk - less chance some knucklehead will try to steal it! I have some old 5 1/4" Alpine speakers that need replaced, but in their day, with the amp, were more than enough!

I have owned cabriolets through out the years - I have had 3 broken into at one point or another. Two slashed tops (once when the door was unlocked) = one busted window. One pryed open glove box (that wasn't locked) I no longer lock my car and I refrained from putting an expensive stereo in my car - I have a stock looking blapunkt I got from Sams club for under $100. It's just fine in the car, nice sound - even with the top down. Now I have the 3.4 - it tends to have better music to that available on the radio/cd...

After ignoring for 2 years I just ordered Focal 165V1 Kits (2 way component speakers) + one of their new FP2.75 (2 x 75w RMS) amps for a door install. Dominic Baker (designer of the Utopia BE series) gave me some sage advice: "What's going to make the biggest difference to the sound is the door build: You'll need to remove the door trim and then cover the outside skin of the door with dynamat. The inner frame of the door which supports the trim will normally have lots of punched out holes in it - these can be sealed with a piece of dynamat on either side. You'll need to use some foam to squeeze behind the door mechanism cables to stop them rattling. Finally, make sure that you have a good, solid, air tight mounting between driver and door. Basically what you are aiming for is to turn your door into a sealed, damped loudspeaker enclosure. If you can achieve this, you should have plenty of bass etc without need for a sub. Would be worth running decent cables from the amp to the speakers too." Ian
