What is inside of a 930 fuel accumulator

I'm doing a 930 EFI conversion and I want to know what is inside of the fuel accumulator. Car is a 79. Anyone taken one of these things apart, or have a diagram of the inside?

I'm guessing these accumulators may act as a header tank to avoid momentary starvation in the event the fromt pump picks up some air and delivers it into the fuel line, but I don't understand the fuel line routing. Alternately, I suspect it may contain a pressure regulation device from the appearance of the seam with a possible diaphram, and a return line at the bottom which is similar to the construction of a small bosch fuel press regulator.

Any advice out there?

Jim

I believe it keeps the fuel system pressurized after engine shutdown, to avoid heated fuel to expand and create gas pockets in the fuel lines.

Edit: sorry, no pics

Jim,

It's basically a can with a diaphragm dividing it in two. The side opposite the fuel lines contains a spring that pushes against the diaphragm. It serves to dampen the pressure of the system while the engine is running and keeps residual pressure on the system for a while after engine shut down.

I've never had one fail on me so I've never cut one open.

That's what it is. One way to verify failure is to pull the bottom line. If fuel spills out the diaphragm has ruptured. The top 2 lines are fuel in and out.

What EFI kit are you using? You may not need the accumulator at all.

Hi guys, I finished my efi conversion back in September.

I turfed the accumulator based on the advice here.

bbh03, I ran a thread on the conversion if you have not seen it:
