I've had my foam backed panels that cover the sunroof motor out for a couple of months pending installation of new cables. Ever since, I've had a very noticable increase in sound infiltration through the air vents at the top of the rear window. Now the foam immediately behind the vents is disintegrating leaving the vents open. How do I fix this? I dont want to do anything that blocks water drainage (I assume there is a drain channel somewhere in there - just haven't looked closely)
Thanks!

Mark,
Not sure about the foam replacement, but it doesn' affect the water drainage. Water drains out through tubes in the front and back of the sunroof pan. In the rear, they run through the pillars on the side of the rear windshield. The vents along the roof, I assume, are for exiting interior air. My guess is that as long as the foam allows passage of air (ie. low-density), you're good to go. Larry

maybe the foam is old and deteriorated (?)
got a pic of it? I suspect yo need to pull the headliner down (or maybe you can do it via the zipper) and put in new foam where the old was

This is what the rain trap looks like. It does not have drains but drains out the lower holes at each end in back. You can cover it with open cell foam to cut the sound. It is a direct opening to the cabin and if the foam is missing there will be increased wind noise. Resist the urge to tape it shut to stop the sound. Will make your ears pop when you shut the door and the windows are shut.

Where exactly does the foam go? In front of the rain trap? Along its entire length?
