Np 12v to my WUR and Idle Speed control
On my 82 SC I just found that my wur and ISC do not have 12v going to them. I also found that my ISC doesnt have ground either.
I tested pin 10 on the 12 pin connector and power goes in and power comes out. However it doesnt make it through the engine wire harness to the components. Also, although I havent checked it yet I believe my cold start system is down too. Its very hard to start cold. Very hard ! If it makes any difference the engine is not the 3.0 anymore but a 92` C2 turbo 3.3 engine. However I believe the same theory of operation applies to both systems. Before I start tearing into the engine bay for answers Im hoping someone can offer helpful advice. Kurt Williams |
Check the engine bay fuses and relays. I had the same problem a few years ago with my previous car. I ended up using a wire to jump terminals as I couldn't get a relay. Can't remember which terminals though.

The loss of voltage is after the 12 pin connector on the engine side. So it cant be an engine bay fuse. From what I understand the power originates from term 30? of the fuel pump relay. Well the 12v is there too.

Yoau re correct the AAV is on the same circuit as the WUR (at least iit is on some SCs). I had a similar problem but my problem was on the realy side. There was a post onthis recently and I think the ground is not an issue for some reason.
anyway, it has to be a broken wire doesnt it? Can you rig a jumper to the WUR, it shoudl fire your cold start stuff as well. Then trace it back? Sorry you are an advanced user thats a simple idea.....hopefully some one with a clue will chime in :) |
Thanksa Eric. Yes a jumper would be a quick fix but I would end up leaving it that way if I did (bad). So whether or not I get any helpful advice im going to dig in this weekend if I get the time.
As for the ground ? Well that would be nice but in all my 911 experience all solid brown wires are constant unswitched ground. But hopefully you are right and its not an issue. Kurt Williams |

Anyone else have any insight ?

Are you checking for voltage with the engine running or just with the ignition on. I forget which year it changed but later CIS cars did not supply voltage to the fuel pump and warm up ancillaries (WUR, AAR etc.) unless the motor was running.
This serves two purposes. Safety and prevents pre-heating of the warm up ancillaries. |
I havent touched the car for over a week. I dont recall if it was running or not. I will keep that in mind when I get back to it. Thanks,

Voltage supply to WUR, AAV, CSV.....
Kurt,
Bobby is right on spot. For the SC's, voltage is supplied to these CIS components via the alternator (engine has to crank) to get energized. TD |
