It's Friday - and I just rolled over 60,000 miles

It's a beautiful day in Tampa - 72 degrees high of 75 today. Fitting day to roll over 60,000 miles.

It all started with this December 21st, 2002. I picked up the car from Barrington, IL with 43,273 miles.

Bone stock -

Almost exactly 4 years later, I pass 60,000 miles today - an average ~4181 miles per year.

Not quite stock anymore - but definitely my car and the way I want it.

Anyway - just reflecting on a Friday.

I also like the polished paddles, did you do them yourself? Currently, my Fuchs are polished lips, but all black centers and I'd like to polish the paddles (petals?) since I have a black car and I think it looks great with darker colors.

If so, did you need to completely strip the paint and then repaint the inner portions, or were you able to remove paint and polish the paddles only?

edit: My 500th post! COOL!!

Look up 89911 and fuchs - he has a step by step - Mine - stock they were 15 x7 and 15 x 8's - I sold those and bought a set of 16 x 8's fronts (944 turbo offset) and 16 x 9 rears and sent them off to Al Reed to polish.

They looks great - aven better on a black car IMHO.

Jeremy,
Congrats! My driving season passed and the car is still in the shop. I'll be lucky if I get one more drive before the snow/salt hits the roads here. I need to find a good IT job in FL!

Mine were done by Al Reed as well. You could try to do them yourself, but for what Al charges (my center caps were also hand painted by his wife, and it looks like Jeremy's were as well) versus the amount of time and work I have heard it is, you would probably be better off sending them to Al.

I bought my 89 911 last May with 44.5k miles, on the way home from work yesterday I happened to look at the odometer while at a stop light and I was at exactly 49000.

60K miles?! Are you kidding? Wow. My car has yours beat by 80K+. I've always loved that car of yours.

By the way, did you say you like polished fuchs on black cars? (Sorry. I couldn't resist the shameless plug )

No. I wish they were. They're 8's. If I had 9's, I could put 245's on. I tried 245's on the 8's and felt that the sidewalls felt alamingly squirmy in corners and during lane changes, so back to the 225's I went.

Jeremy's are 9's (lucky guy).
