A/C bowtie?

Can someone tell me where to find and remove the A/C 'bowtie'? I have a 1988 Targa...

I had to ask this same question several months ago. When I found it, I felt so foolish!

The bow tie is located directly forward of the center ash tray, on the fire wall. Two small bolts, 8mm I believe, hold it. It's a 30 second job to remove it.

On the later cars ('86 and up) removing the AC bowtie really doesn't do much, because you have the larger dash vents, which is where the majority of your cold AC air flows from on the later cars.

I guess it would not hurt, although it might, because it might decrease the flow from your dash vents a little. On the later cars, its nice to have a lot of flow from the dash vents, because you can direct it at your face!

The story is much different on the '85 and earlier cars, where removing the bowtie really "uncorks" the system and makes a HUGE difference!
