rear banana arms / wheel bearing

I am restoring and converting a 1970 911 T into a RSR and need advice regarding the strength of the existing banana arms and rear wheel bearings.

Would the existing banana arms and rear wheel bearings in the 911T stand up to the use of 11in. rims?

I've heard different input on this item; as well, I know that many people upgrade to the newer banana arms, however I've also heard argument as to why staying with the original arms is the best decision because of suspension geometry etc.

I spent all this weekend thinking about what to do and would appreciate the support of anyone who has been here before. I would like to make to right move while chassis construction is in motion.

If one reccomends replacement pieces; please let me know the details of the replacment parts so I can begin looking.

Please know that I have somewhat of a budget (if you can call it that), so the most expensive solution might not be the best for me.

I appreciate the support!

The only thing I can think of is to use 930 arms. But, I think the bearing is the same size. Lot of people here have 11" wheels on steel arms and more on the alumium arms. There are no differences in the geometry until you use the 930 arms. Some say the steel is stronger, but again, the bearing is the same.

Hello.

As far as I know, steel arms found in early car are the same as aluminium found on older cars. They should be stronger but also heavier. Bearings should be roughly the same.

930 arms are shorter, have completly different bearings (twin conical bearings) and different pickup points. I believe that fitting 930 arms should be difficult and quite expensive (930 arms aren't cheap, ask me how I know).

So if you want lower weight, go for aluminiumm arms, otherwise keep the stock. I don't think that you will have problems with bearings.
