Inventory: eyes: 2, fingers: 10, braincells...

I welded in the last of many hand-fabricated patches and off-the-shelf replacement pressings, ending the rust repair phase in my efforts to resurrect my rust-bucket 912. I'm always happy to make it through without any injuries, given all the sparks and sharps flying around over the last 6 months of work!

The last patch:

The classic rot above the jack post at the right rear quarterpanel is now a piece of solid steel again:

So once I dressed the welds, the rust repair phase was officially complete! Why not start on that rear quarterpanel with the paint prep phase by stripping it down to bare metal, filling welds and door ding dents with a nice thin coat of filler and block sanding it out. I like to use Evercoat Rage Xtreme lightweight filler and giving it a nice thick coat of Spies Hecker Priomat Primer 3255 self-etching primer.

I'd like to think nobody would suspect this area of the car once looked like this a few weeks back!

I'll go back to sipping my Guinness now...

My '66 912 Project

It's such an impressive feat to see someone take a rusted car and bring it back to life add to that the quality of work you've done, very nice.
