radio code for 996
I bought a used 996 which did not come with all the books. Recently I had some work done on the car and afterwards the radio was locked. I don't have the radio booklet with the code number. Any suggestions? Will I have to pay a dealer a small fortune to get it working or is there a better way?

And they won't give it to you. They will just set it. So, if it happens again, you have to start over and pay them again.
Stupid. It's your radio, and therefore it should be your code. My buddy almost got thrown out of the dealership's service dept over this issue. Sorry, I'm no help.

Hmm..strange...I walked in the dealership a couple of days ago with a CDR-220 in my hand and the lady gave me the code w/o a problem.
Only question she asked..."Is it your radio?"....Doh! Guess it differs per dealership. You can also call Becker parts at (201) 327-3434. They can give you the code if you have the serial number. Not sure if it requires a fee. Check beckerautosound.com for more info.
