Switch gets hot

The rotary fan speed switch for my a/c fan ha stopped working on any speed other than low.
Today I noticed with it running on low it got very hot. Could not even touch the metal parts.

Replace the switch? Or anything else to check out?

First, I would make sure you still have a good ground for your switch.

Heat in electrical parts is caused by resistance.
Resistance is an indication of a bad contact or joint.
Anytime you feel heat from any electrical part...investigate the cause...it might just be a dirty connector...or a loose joint.

Also, have a look at the blower resistors connections located at the front
bulkhead ahead of the passenger seat.

blower resistor "looks" perfect. Any way to measure it?
wires on back of rotary switch have corrosion on one of them...tight in there but I need to get the switch out and clean up the connections.

Be verrrrrrrrrrrry careful with the A/C temp switch capilary tube.
