lighting problem--any answers
What would you look for if one minute the parking lights front and back go off. I checked the fuse, ok. Bulbs are ok. I had them last week and now I cant get them to come on. I'm no expert on this stuff, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks. 1986 911 3.2 Targa

For me it was the connectors being fouled up with black ozidation. Check them. Also, make sure you are checking the right bank of fuses. I would remove and re-install the specific fuses to make sure they are seated right.

also check the flat round rubber plug under the dash to the left of the column, mine worked loose once and drove me nuts until i found it......

Since you have an 86 your problem may be a small diode located under the dash. I believe this is in the 86 year only. It is in an opaque rectangular connector that should be just to the left of the steering column.
I will try to find the part #. This diode actually only effects one side of the parking lights but it still may be the cause of your problems. |
After the bulkhead connector that was mentioned I may go after light sw connections to see if power is still being delivered when they go out. If it's intermittent I'd probably hook a temporary wire to the sw output to see if it's still hot when the parking lights go out. Light sw's do go bad.
