smoke

When starting I have seen smoke after driving in town while air temp is around 100 degrees. First time was at the end of the pca local meeting and my first time. Really impressed everyone. I replaced all of the injectors with new original thinking they were leaking. Cured my rough idle problem and runs super. Today after driving around town again smoke at start. I run synthetic 5-50w and us less than a quart every 2k. What is this smoke? thanx r.t.

I believe you are referencing the smoke that is emitted from your exhaust upon starting the engine after it has sat for about thirty minutes, is this correct? If so then it is normal and you will see it usually every time you start your engine usually when it has cooled down. I believe what happens is because of the angle of the cylinders that escess lubricating oil leaks into the combustible chamber on front of the piston and is burnt upon firing. it is immediately burned off emitting a pleasant cloud of smoke. You should learn to love and enjoy it.

Mine does in the morning if it's cool and moist outside.

In the garage it's fine but once the exhaust touches the cool air I get a steam cloud till I get moving.

r.t.

Try letting the car ilde for a short time (10-15 sec) before turning it off. This pumps the oil back into the oil tank and seems to help minimize the smoke at start-up for many. Watch the oil gauge, it will rise as you idle, when it stops, turn the car off.

Good luck
Andrew
