Shift shaft seal direction
Can someone tell me which to put the shift shaft seal back in.
By the time the swearing was over i can't remember. Do I face the concave hollow side with the round spring thing into the tranny or out to the interior of the car.The other side is flat. PS. I finally got the seal out with a set of pics from Snap-On that I borrowed from one of my car audio install buddies. These pics are one of the first things all car installers buy. They have a million uses and when you bust the end off they give you a new one. John |

The garter spring side goes in. Based on the seals I have seen, large or small, this is always the case: garter spring goes on the wet side.

The lipped side goes into the transmission, the flat side faces the shift coupler. Just push it in until it is flush with the housing. Good idea to lubricate the inner surface of the seal so it slides over the shift rod easier.
