88 CARRERA..THE LOW BEAMS WORK THE HIGH BEAMS AND FLASHER WON'T. bULBS LOOK GOOD, BOTH FILAMENTS INTACT. FUSES GOOD AS DESCRIBED IN OWNERS MANUAL AND BENTLEY. NO RELAY INDICATED IN EITHER MANUAL. CLEANED TURN INDICATOR CONTACTS AFTER REMOVING STEERING WHEEL AND MISC. STILL NADA.WHAT NEXT... JUST REPLACE THE TURN INDICATOR, $100, AND SEE?

Try substituting your horn relay for the headlamp relay ... the normally closed contacts in the relay provide a failsafe circuit for the low beams if the relay fails ... it would take two failures in the 'stalk' control to fail to both 'flash' and switch to continuous high beams!!!
Likewise, two fuses would have to fail for both high beam bulbs NOT to work! ------------------ Warren Hall 1973 911S Targa [This message has been edited by Early_S_Man (edited 09-09-2000).] |

Warren,
I can't find a relay for the brites. My relays are labeled 1 foot blo motor 2 oil fan 3 CC 4 horn 5 fog lites 6 a/c cond/blo See pg 971-3 Bentley. I AGREE THAT THE RELAY WOULD BE THE NEXT STEP ,BUT I CAN'T SEEM TO LOCATE A BRITE OR FLASH RELAY ANYWHERE. Good to hear you comment that flash and brite wouldn't go out simultaneously.Eliminate turn indicator? My fuses for hi and lo beams are panel #2, 1 and 2 . Bentley 971-18 All fuses have been cleaned and are O.K. Still in the Dim. Mrdi |

mrdi,
The headlamp relay is up near the instrument panel, in the trunk. You will have to pull down the Perlon trunk liner/carpet. ------------------ Warren Hall 1973 911S Targa |

There must not be a relay for your year ... none shown on Bentley 970-72. I can't believe they did away with that relay!
Well, disregard everything I said! ------------------ Warren Hall 1973 911S Targa |
