My great little targa getting better

Thought I would share some shots of my Targa improvement project as we move into the winter months. Been gathering parts from Pelican, ebay, and pelican members. Should serve as some motivation for those of you getting ready to pull the trigger on those non-driving fun sessions
Trunk before

Trunk after cleanup

New trunk carpet

Interior a little worn but in great shape

Interior after new steering wheel, back to original door speakers, original blaupunkt radio reinstalled, and new floor mats

Seats needed some leather treatment and a good cleaning

I always liked original steering wheels...

Until I met this one...

Very cool. I think that trunk carpet job is the neatest I've seen! Will you add a crest to the 930S wheel?

Nice! Mine has a ways to go. I'd love to get a new steering wheel, I have the three point one, not sure what its called, but original on an 84.

Great improvements. Looks like a different car, on the inside anyway.

Very nice!

Is that an armrest between the seats ? Never seen that option before on a Carrera. Where is the heater control that usually sits on the floor between the seats ? Or did that change after 85 ?

If ya do put the crest on the steering wheel, Pull the leather off and dremel out the surface below to match the crest. You will now have a much nicer installation. The how to's are available in the search file

At some point a crest will go on the wheel but at $30 or $40 I decided to spend that money on a set of copper exhaust gaskets to go with my exhaust upgrades.

Very easy upgrade to do. Pelican has a tech note on it and all the parts are available from Pelican. I just love the feel of the meaty wheel. Seems like a different car in a good way.

The armrest was an aftermarket addition via the PO. It has a hinge that allows it to be lifted up and down for easy access to the heater controls. The receipt for it was $400 so it was a hefty price tag. I decided to keep it even though it was not a stock item. It makes for very comfortable driving. It was made by a company called Bird I think.

Thanks for the tip. I'm handy with the dremel but I would have never thought to sink it into the surface. I'll do a search.

What a nice transformation....good job! Where did that dead pedal come from? I'd like to get one for my Targa if they're available commerically.
