rear window problems

In dealing with leaks around the rear window rubber, I decided to replace the gasket. Now I cannot find a new gasket with the necessary holes to accomodate the wiring for the rear window defroster. I have a replacement without holes from Performance Parts. Should I put it in and forget the defroster?

I just replaced the rear window seal on my 911. I used a drill to make small holes to "thread" the defroster wire through. I used the old gasket as a template to put the holes in the same spot on the new gasket. I used a pair of needle nose pliers to pull the wires with the connectors thru the new holes. Be careful when you remove the aluminum frame on the exterior of the gasket, do not bend it. I learned the hard way and had to by new pieces.
