Dyno results with an M&K muffler

The car is an '89 Carrera with the only changes being a M&K 1 in/1 out sport muffler, a Fabspeed premuffler, and a standard 911Chips performance chip, all of which is available through Pelican. Car dyno's about 202 hp at the rear wheels SAE corrected on a Dynojet, 238 hp at the engine assuming a 15% transmission loss factor (202/0.85). Very typical for this type of combination. As the above is a very popular combination, this should be of interest for those who have or are considering the above.

Steve, thanks for the info. Do you know what the numbers where before the addition of the M&K 1 in/1 out, the premuffler, and the chip? Thanks in advance.

Thanks, Steve. Where'd you get the dyno work done?

Sorry, no preruns done without all the stuff on this car, but a completely stock car usually dyno's out at around 185-186 at the wheels. Dyno runs were performed Connecticut.

Plenty of dyno runs with SSIs and a variety of mufflers, some with M&K, but not without a variety of internal engine modifications that would skew the results. There are plenty of other dyno charts here to compare to though:

http://www.911chips.com/custom.htm

If I get some clean dyno runs with just SSIs and the M&K 2/2 muffler, I'll post them.

I think thats my car, if so I installed Steve's custom chip yesterday.

When Steve saw the dyno results he felt the chip only needed a bit of adjustment to the air/fuel below 4500rpm but this would not add much power.

Having driven it yesterday it feels much faster than with the standard chip...

Hoping to get a new dyno run this week, I will send the results to Steve for posting.

Hi Ben,

I was waiting until i got the results of the second dyno to let you know how it went.

The sound is great, nice idle burble, nice not too loud sound at lower revs and roar when you're on it.

Only problem I had was with those straps, there must be a easier fitting strap available?

other than that great muffler & quality - it really topped of the chip upgrade.

Dyno booked Friday 11am (eastern)

How did the dyno go? Can you post the results. Also, any chance you could create a sound clip of your M&K 1 in\1 out setup? TIA

Comparing these Dynojet numbers to other runs on different dyno systems is like comparing apples to oranges. So many variabilities that the comparison really isn't worth doing. The only way to know if these mods are helping or hurting is to do a controlled A vs B comparison....same place, same time.

I dyno'd my car on a Dyno Jet and got a 24 hp difference from the identical car run on a Dyno Pak three months earlier. The Dyno Jet was higher. The car was identical.

+1

But I'm sure Steve knows that- he's just providing some data.

Add me to the list of those interested in before/after. I plan to buy a chip early next year from you and that would help me with my decision.

Thanks,
