78 SC Failed Emmissions
Can anyone tell me how to lean out a 3.0 SC. I missed the CO%(limit 3.0 at idle, mine blew 5.33). The air blower was not connected...would hooking it up make up the difference...or is an fuel mixture adjustment necessary.

Hooking up the air pump would probably solve your smog problem and I see no advantage in leaving it disconnected.

I have a 1979 911SC. When I purchased the car the smog pump was disconnected and the EGR valve and its related parts had been removed. When the previous owner would have the car smogged, he would take it to his mechanic and have it leaned out. It passed smog. The smog stations don't do enough Porsches' to know what or where the smog equipment is. They would check off the visusal inspection as "all smog equipment in place". All that aside, I decided I would rather have the car smog legal. So I installed the EGR valve and its' vacuum hoses and hooked up the smog pump. Bottom line: it passed smog with flying colors and is JUST AS FAST as it was before. Removing the catalytic converter might make a performance difference but the rest of the smog equipment doesn't hurt performance. Good luck (I live in Calif. which has very stringent smog requirments)
