Porsche Crest Are Mahle stock P/C for 3.2 Carreras?

I started to clean the oil crude off of Pistons and Cylinder and I discovered that the P/C are marked with Mahle!? Are the Mahle original equipment for 3.2 Carrera? If so, can I buy stock pistons rings from Pelican part to replace? If not, what rings should I buy?

Thanks in advance
John

Yes, Mahle are OEM. You can buy a set of rings (Goetze) from Pelican for about $150.

I think there were two OEM's for the 3.2's: Mahle made Nikasils which can be honed and reringed (so you are lucky), and Kolbenschmidt, which made Alusil, which are generally regarded as not reringable, although some people claim success in doing it.

The engine rebuilding forum here has some extremely long and informative threads on this very subject. HTH,

ianc

At the stock 9.5:1 C/R, you can run up to 0.7bar/10psi, INTERCOOLED, or 0.5bar/7psi, non-intercooled. BTDT!

If you are going in there anyway, you can do some simple things to reduce C/R further and run a bit more boost for more power, such as C2T head gaskets, or custom JE forged turbo units
