Can't believe this..is this lethal?

Got NOS?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=451378687

How fast would one of things kill the P-engine? Don't believe in laughing gas myself, but would it be safe for our engines? Rice burners do have them...

A small amount of Nitrous wouldn't hurt the car. I don't think it matters what you use to extract power from your engine, the more rapidly your engine produces energy, the faster it will wear out, and the greater liability imperfections in timing, slipness and so forth become--doesn't matter whether
you're running a turbo or using nitrous.

You won't hurt it, I think, unless you try to get a 25% HP increase or something stupid by dumping mass amounts of Nitrous in the mixture. But a little, enough to gain a horsie or two probably wouldn't hurt.
Right guys?

Couple things I would like to add here, (NOS for any P engine is a bad Idea) because NOS comes on with a bang... it is pretty much on or off. It will stress parts much differently than a turbo (that brings it on slower) will. Running it in very small amounts with the timing retarded on demand and the mixture perfect you maybe OK... but because it creates "all that power" even small doses will also generate allot of heat very quickly ....heat that an air cooled engine cannot dissapate as well (or as fast) as a water cooled engine.

Let's not forget the most important reason either...It will never be enough until you break something (soon the 40hp is not fast... I need to try the 75hp jets....etc)

some may disagree.....but think twice.

NOS makes stagged kits that bring on a very progressive power increase. They even have a computer controled unit that uses electronic injectors rather than jets, to make a perfect mixture. NOS is nothing more than O2. It does not make power by itself.
Used corectly, it is a wonder of reliable power for very little $$$

I must add however, that I lost a TURBO Buick 3.8 L, 571 HP motor to a failed fuel jet on a NOS kit. We had to use a tow truck to pull the crank out of the track...

I know what your thinking, but in reality, this is no worse nor more common than a failed wastegate...

If you are going to use nitrous (I don't recommend it) put a microswitch on the throttle, the tach, and a button on the shifter. This way the juice is only activated after a specified RPM under full throttle and when you push the button. It is also a good idea to have a dedicated auxillary fuel system using ultra high octane fuel that sprays in with the nitrous. If extra injectors aren't used you must use higher octane fuel in your tank for protection. I didn't look to see if a retard device was included but this would be manditory. I've seen first hand the melted pistons of a 3.0L on the juice. Be careful.

To use Nitros you really should have forget pistons, and many 911 engines use cast pistons. Something to think about. Nitros produces a lot of heat, very quickly, so in a realitively inexpensive import engine, big deal but the 911 engine is a bit more expensive to rebuild. Also Nitros is not something you could use effectily in the twisty stuff, the kick in the butt exiting a turn could be a handful. Also you will be refilling the tank often if you use it much, most of the people I know with Nitros systems can never seem to use when they need it because their bottle is empty, what a pain!

Good luck,
Keith

I personally wouldn't use it, just for the fact that yes, our engines do cost a hell lot more than the "import" engines. Hmm...but who knows, maybe if a NOS system is installed correctly(as Rarly mentioned) our p-cars won't just spank the C-5 Corvettes in the corners but also leave them in the dust off the line! But as for me with barely enough money to restore my '76S I'll leave NOS alone. Thanks for the replies, guys.
