strut brace is great!

so i just put in the weltmeister camber strut brace.

I had to shave some material off one of the brackets to get the hex head bolts to fit in correctly.

but wow..its a nice change! really keeps the front end down tight. now i just have to keep the back end from slidding out

but yah....my story was i put in new sport bilsteins, got it aligned and corner balanced and the car still felt mushy. I figured it was cuz of the big tires i've got on there. either way it didn't feel right so i figured the strut brace would help....sure enough it did make a difference.

id recommend it. its only $200....good investment.

I've always heard that they don't make much, if any discernable difference. Interesting...

That's the one I want. Seems to be the best design as far overall strength and shear forces on the the bolts.

I think one overlooked aspect of strut braces is that it will help keep your tub straight for the long run.

so, why not disconnect it ( maybe 2mins.) try it again and see if you still feel the same?

Does it do anything for the dashboard shake over bumps by stiffening the structure?

Is it necessary to do an alignment following installation??

I'm looking at the twin bar from Rennline and was wondering the same thing about alignment, they say on their website, you do not need to do an alignment. It is not effected. Curious what you all have done.

As long as you dont undo all the bolts on the shock tower, only the 2 required (for my installation), no alignment is necessary.
More experienced guys I'm sure would shed more analytical advice on this.

I am going to install my strut brace, do you tighten to pull struts or loosen to push the struts?

Thanks,
Eddy

I too fitted a brace recently.

Yet to do some decent miles but initial thoughts indicate a noticiable difference on fast'ish choppy corners. It now holds such corners tight as.

I think too it's a little more pointy through corners, hence I feel a slight reduction in understeer since fitting....

Another plus is driving over level crossings; the car doesn't seem to 'jiggle' so much anymore.

So for $200, I feel it is worth adding a brace.

I installed my Elephant Racing Brace just before an alignment, and let those guys set the tension. I felt a huge improvement. But I can't really tell you how much was done by the brace cause it was after I lowered the car, etc, etc.

You install it with some (light) tension on the bar...like you want to pull on the strut tower...

I have had the Weltmeister for a couple years - and yes they (any strut brace for that matter) make a difference.

I have tension on mine for a bit more negative front camber.

You should notice about $200 worth of difference.....small money, small difference.

I had an immediate improvement, but then I added new tires, alignment, and corner wieght at the same time so I've never really known how much was which part.
