Hose Help!!

Last night I changed out my old fuel accumulator and filter. While checking the hoses (1- goes into the air box on the side, 2- goes into a fitting in the fan shroud well behind and to the side of the fan), both literally snapped in my hands!!! They had to be the original hoses (rubber with fabric cover and maybe 3/8 inside diameter). I assumed these are vacuum or air hoses and traced them as fas as the rear fire wall on the fuel filter side. I have yet to jack up the car to see where these two hoses connect. Can anyone let me know, please? for now the ends are jury rigged wirh electrical tape and clamps. Had to develop a vacuum leak if these are critical to performance.
I am not certain what length to get and just how accessible they are as they pass beyond the firewall. It a 1973 911T. Old dependable gal, but getting a little brittle these days.

Thanx
Bob

Bob,

I wouldn't worry too much about the hoses. The ones you mentioned are part of a crude fix to help with environmental regulations. The one hose comes from the oil tank into the intake. This is supposed to burn off oil gasses. There should be a flame trap on the filter box where this hose goes. I bought the k&n filter conversion kit from Automotion and put it on the end of the hose. I blocked off that hole in the air filter box. The other hose comes from the fan shroud and circulates crankcase gases through the evap control unit in the front left fenderwell. A charcoal filter that lays in the trunk is also hooked to this system. I just took my hose off and cut the excess slack. I intend to buy a small k&n filter to mount directly on top of the air shroud, but I haven't taken the time to find one yet. Anyway, not having these hoses will not affect how your car runs. I would ditch the evap tank/charcoal filter and the hoses, as they just take up space and add weight.
