Anyone use Valvoline Synthetic Gear Oil?

OK, I've decided to go with a gear oil change to synthetic in hopes that it will improve cold shifting. PO records indicate last gear oil change was 35,000 miles ago with 80W-90 dino.

Can't find Mobil 1 or Red Line on the shelves locally, but NAPA carries Valvoline 75W-90. Anyone have any experience with Valvoline? Can't imagine there would be that much difference between these brands but this is why I ask.

Thanks!

Garage
I have used it in my 87 G50 with good results. I put it in three years ago which was about 15K miles ago.   I just changed it again this fall and there was much less fuzz on the magnetic plug than I had seen with my initial change, but I don't know how many miles that was.

I can't really give you a comparison on the cold because I have run this stuff in my tranny since I got it 4 years ago. But I have run it into December in NH and never had trouble shifting gears.   Hope this helps.

I used Mobil One synthetic gear lube and would not hesitate to use Valvolene Synthetic for a moment. the quality is so close that you would need to do a side by side study to see if there is any difference in wear. JMHO

Thanks! I picked some up today and will prob do the change next weekend. Will report back on cold shift impact. Currently on really cold AM's I often cannot get into 1st, 2nd or Rev. I have to initally it into 3rd and once I do I can then get into 1st or Rev to get moving. Once I get warmed up it shifts perfectly.
