SoCal RSR clone 16 month status report (pics)
Greetings and happy holidays to everyone.
There's been quite a bit of progress on my car in the last few months and just wanted to post a quick report. The suspension is getting sorted out and the interior is coming together with new carpet and door panels. It's been a long 16 months with a few more to go before completion. Looking forward to meeting up with local folks for some cruising when it's done. For a full report with lots of pictures, please visit this site: Porsche RSR clone project Here is the starting point: ![]() And this is current state: ![]() I wish you all a safe and happy holidays. Fernando,
Looking good! How about some interior pics? Did you get the issue worked out with the strut mounts? Was it just the bearing hanging up? Doug

Thanks guys for the kind words
![]() The interior is still a work in progress, installing the appbiz kit was a bit tricky but I really liked the quality and workmanship. The perlon type carpet is very nice. I tested fitment on the door panels yesterday and should be able to mount them in the next few days. The sparco seats are giving me a hard time. I called Sparco today and it turns out I'm doing everything right, just not an easy fit for my configuration. I may have to do some cutting at the base or the rails. The seats don't go back far enough... just the way they were designed. Other models don't have this problem. The strut mount is still up in the air, I sent some more stuff to powder-coating so won't get back to it until the parts come in. I'll definitely post the outcome, thanks for asking. |

Looks like it was a nice car before the work began. Can't wait to see the finished product!

Fernando,
Its really looking great. The machined banjo bolts for you and Doug should be there by now. Also, I hope you got the front sway bar before the weekend came along. Thumbs up!

Thanks guys,
Clint, I just got home and the banjo bolts were in my mail. Thank you very much! Great work, those will work perfectly. The swaybar didn't make it in before the weekend, but it's here now! It came in today, no problem, I have plenty to do so it didn't hold me up. As promised, below are some pictures of the carpet and seat install. The seats are not completely bolted down yet. ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by SoCal70RSR; 05-27-2008 at 01:20 PM.. |

Really looking good!! Thanks for the note on Excellence. I was surprised to see another shot of my car! Doug

Simply awesome. Essentially a brand new car. Hell, better than new. The word "clone" shouldn't apply to this level of work.
