Vandalism....so Pissed Right Now

so im in hermosa beach, ca pulling onto my friends street to go home and pass out after a night at the bars. (im sober to drive home)

I'm turning a corner and these kids are giving me the finger or something so i give them a little honk. nothing big. i end up going around the block again cuz i have to find parking. sure enough when i pass the corner this -bleep-er THROWS A BEER CAN AT MY CAR AND HITS THE WINDSHIELD AND IT CRACKS IN LIKE EIGHTY THOUSAND PLACES. IM SO -bleeping- PISSED RIGHT NOW. I STOP THE CAR AND GET OUT...THE KID IS NOWHERE TO BE SEEN. I SO SHOULD HAVE JUMPED OUT SOONER. ITS MY -bleeping- PORSCHE. I HATE PEOPLE SOMETIMES.

How do you just do something like that and run away. I wished I would have immediately stopped the car and ran after the -bleeper-. What I did was stop get out look at the crack and then start looking around for him.

OK...so nevertheless i HAVE to get it fixed....its spidered ALL over the place. I need some suggestions for some places around here. Anywhere in the LA bay area would be nice. how much money can i expect to spend? I actually just got laid off on friday so this is perfect timing.

GOD

so pissed.

No worries! Isurance usually does glass for no deductable and it won't figure against you for rates. Good luck.

That sucks, but try and make it a good thing. The can couldn't have hit a better spot and new windshield is going to give you a whole new outlook.... literally. Hopefully the can didn't skip up the hood first.

If you had called 911 and held any one of the kids, then things might have escalated quickly if YOU had been drinking at all.

Kids today have no respect for anything. Our parents thought we were bad. It's a good thing you didn't get your hands on the kid, it almost never turns out in favor of the adult, even though you are the victim. Sorry to hear of your lack of luck, it could be worse. He could have shot your windshiled out!
It'll get better.

Consider yourself luck! Even if your deductable doesn't cover it, you still have your LIFE! Too may people die daily because of 'road rage'! Don't get sucked into something that could ultimately take your life! It only takes one punk with a gun to make for a BAD DAY! Cops and drinking don't mix either!

Sorry to read about your broken winshield, wish you could have caught the delinquents. When I was a rotten, just-for-kicks kid only water ballons were thrown!

I believe what they did was a felony. Throwing a projectile at an occupied vehicle. Around these parts, you could have rounded them up at gunpoint and been allright.

In California- better just to take it in stride.

That sucks. On the bright side it won't require paint work.
Even if your insurance won't pay for the windshield seal, you should replace it when you do the windshield.

You can replace your window with a 964 windshield and 964 windshield seal. The 964 seal doesn't use the pain in the azz trim piece.

good luck,
-Chris

Yeah, passed out? and sober? Hmm.
Vandalism sucks but it could have been worse like a cop waving you to a stop.
I doubt that the law would have considered you sober.

Maybe it's a sign from a higher power, or providence, to make a change?

There is so much ***** in the world, consider yourself lucky.
Have the window fixed, and give some $ to the Salvation Army.

Season's greetings.

Perhaps it wasn't the best judgement to use your Porsche for this particular outing. What better opportunity to come across semi-intoxicated punks looking to have a little fun. Not much different than going for a leisurely walk through Central Park at 1 a.m. on a Sunday morning. Just asking for trouble. . .and then acting shocked when it happens.

If you're really pissed, next time, leave the Porsche at home when you're going out drinking with your buds on a weekend night. Nothing like using common sense.

Incredible.
Average price of a house over $1M but too many spoiled idiots. I moved away from Manhattan/Hermosa after college because no one wanted to grow up.

Come on down to Laguna Beach/Aliso. You will only have to fight with seniors wanting the early bird special...

windshields, even without insurance, run under $200.

There was a guy with a bunch of new windshields for sale in the classifieds forum and if you contact a local Porsche dealer they can recommend a good installer. Newport Beach Porsche recommended a guy who did house calls and he did a fantastic job, but I don't have his info anymore.
