Trunk Blower Motor
Hi guys
My fresh air blower motor does not function. I did a search on the topic and I'm pretty sure the blower motor is kaput, seems its a common failure. Symptom, when I push the dash mounted top fresh air blower motor control lever to the far right or one of the other two on positions the lights on the dash indicate on, but the blower doesn't respond. Is this symptom indicative of a blown motor? If so, is there a way to positively confirm this symptom before removing the motor and replacing it with a new one? Oh, I checked the fuses and they are good. Merry Festivus to you all. Wellborn

Remove the plug connector to the blower motor, pull up on the control handles, turn switch on and check for 12V at the plug. My blower was fine but the blower relay was shot.

What type of gauge would I need to purchase to check for 12V, I'm an electrical novice? What would you recommend?

Two ways: you can stick your tounge on the plug and see if you get anythinig....... Just Kidding. You'll need a multimeter. These can be had for $20 at Home Depot or Lowes or go to your locak auto parts store and tell them you need to check for 12V and see what they have. They might have something cheaper. Put the meter on 12V and insert the wire contacts from the meter onto the plug. If you have 12V your blower is bad. If there is no 12V you have to look elsewhere. Make sure the two red handles for the heater are up and the ignition switch is on.

Crap...... your're talking fresh air blower. Sorry, I misread the first post and though it was the heater blower. Well same applies. Remove leads to blower and test with meter. Turn on ignition and blower switch. This will isolate the problem if it's the blower or something else.

Would Salt Help?
Ok, so as I understand it, I'm to shave my skull, put a wet salty towel on my head, take a shot of tequila, suck on some salt and stick my tongue on the plug. If I fall over and convulse, its the motor, if I don't, then it's something else?
Got it. Thanks for your help. Merry Festivus. LOL Seriously, thanks. wj
