Jack Olsen and 993 Brake Air Deflectors

Hi Guys,

Just received my brake air deflectors from PelicanParts, but can't figure out how to mount them on my SC.

The pictures posted by Emission on previous BBS posts do not jibe with the Porsche part number designation for "left" and "right". In other words, the BBS pictures show the "notch" in the up position, but if I were to install the Porsche part using their left" and "right" designation, the "notch" would be in the down position.

Checked my friend's 1988 C2, which he claims came stock with these delfectors, and his "notch" is down.

Could there be a difference in the stock mounting between 993's and C2's?

Does anyone have any pictures of stock 993 air deflectors correctly mounted?

There were no "C2"s until 1990, and I don't think the '88s or C2s came with the deflectors. Does your buddy have a special edition or something?

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the picture. That's exactly how Emission's deflector is mounted on his pictures, with the "notch" up (see your second photo).

It does make sense to me, since mounting it like this would put to long side on the bottom, parallel to the ground, thus "scooping" the air around to the brakes.

Anyone else have anything different?

Steve:

We are also a Miata Family; my wifey has passed her Miata to our daughter, and wifey now owns an Audi TT Roadster to replace the Miata.

By the way, are you Scottish? We had Scottish friends who called his wife "wifey".

Here's a few pics of them mounted on my '87.

This is how it looks now. Ducting from the foglight opening in the Ruf bumper to the scoop. Works pretty well on the track.
