Help !!

Suffering Porsche Withdrawal...... Those of us that live in the north must know it well. Any ideas on what to do to get my Porsche fix when your 911 is in hibernation for the winter?

Hang around here, go out to the garage (or wherever your car is stored) and stroke the fenders lovingly... oops, forget that last part. Anyway, make plans for repairs/upgrades, etc...

Work on it.

Mine went into the barn two days ago, the rear window has already been ripped out to be replaced with Lexan, next the windshield, might as well replace the headliner while I'm at it, needs a new alternator, time to change the oil and remove the dented oil lines and anneal them with a torch so I can push the dents out...I'll be lucky to be ready for the first Lime Rock DE in late March.

For me, winter is the Porsche-intense season.

Move to FLA. It's in the 80's today. Had to close the windows and turn on the A/C last night...

You think you have it bad. My car has been in a body shop for a re-paint colour change since Nov. 2004. This web site has helped.

Good lord, how? Sounds like you need a midnight flatbed, not a website.

Although I live in Florida now, I have lived in areas that actually have seasons. I can't imagine weather keeping me from driving. What better way to build your skills than a sporty rear engined car on slick pavement?

My wife got me a nice Porsche leather/wool jacket that I wear everyday. If I can't be in the real thing...
Also got tranny parts scattered all over the garage and basement, some even under the tree. I'm keeping 'in touch' with it that way over the winter. Got only three more months to get 'er all back together.
Have a Merry Christmas, y'all!

How about "test" driving a new Porsche? Go to the dealership, dress nice and mutter something about mid-life crisis. I'm sure the keys will come flying at you.

I got my fix yesterday when I pulled it out of storage to warm it up.   No snow here and it has rained recently to wash the salt away.   Sorry if your are snow bound.

Hey, I drove my car yesterday and today, even though it's 39 degrees and raining! Drive as much as you can. I'll drive Helga until the snow/salt arrives!

Porsche Unleashed video game on the PC... The only thing that gets me through the winter months. I also start a list of things to do on the car, then try and work my way through the list.

No snow here in Maine yet, but lots of salt and gravel on the roads.

Ok, OK. Since most all my "winter" projects are complete let's toss this out there:

1.) I plan to jack the car up side by side to rotate the tires so they don't flat spot.... With a limited slip in the rear is there any play in the diff to allow some wheel rotation?

2.) How do I keep the wheels looking like the pic? Maintaining the polished rim, keeping the black black, and protecting the center caps...

You could just put it on jack stands and keep the tires off the ground all together.

My car is in "storage" with my sister. Brother in law drives it once a month or so to keep things moving. I have only driven it twice in the past two years as I have been living in the Bahamas. Heading back to the states in a few months for my fix.
I have a small collection of parts waiting for me for some upgrades. 935 mirrors, Ruf rear bumper, turbo bits for a conversion, etc., etc.

Winter Storage

Thought about that but read somewhere it's not good for the shocks or springs not to have weight on them.
