Tach problem - help!

I thought i had a problem with my speedo, but it is ok. But, my tach quits when I turn on the lights! It seems to be related to the dash lights - if I jiggle the bulb wire sometimes the tach will work. Then it will only work with the lights on. Does this make any sense - or am I losing it??
Thanks for any help!
Paul

Check the ground wire for the guage. The lights ground through the guage and if the ground is inadequate, turning on the lights will use up all the ground path, leaving the tach with inadequate ground to operate. Just a hunch.
