Carrera 3.2 no start

Hi all,

After being layed up for about 10 months due to my left to right conversion (that is another story) she wont start second time around.

I prepared everything and hit the key for the first time and she burst into life immediately,I ran her for about 20 mins then shut her down. I couldn't road test the car because it needs to be inspected by an engineer before it gets its road registration.

When the car sits for a while it will splutter once then you can crank and crank but it wont fire.

Anyway......I haven't been able to get the car to start again after dozens of attempts

Here is the checklist

new fuel. yes

strong battery. yes

new relay. yes (purchased because she had an idle problem before I layed her up for 10 months)

spark. yes

searched old posts. yes

fuel pump functioning. yes

checked plugs..... very fueled up, cleaned them, still no go.

any ideas?

Any help would be greatly appreciated I can't wait to drive her after all this time.

HI saintz go into the engine bay , and down the left side of the engine you will find 3 sockets, 2 black and 1 white, pull the white one off and bridge the connectors in the socket, the engine should start, once warm re-connect to the plug, I have a test plan for the 3.2 engine if you would like me to send it down PM me your Add, the info is the closest to the fault you have in the troubleshooting section it in the test plan/book. sounds like fuel filter to me...

So it starts if you leave it for a while yer? (i.e all the crap can settle)

TDC Sensor? That will sure prevent it from firing up...

I bridged the conector but no difference.

the white fitting that it plugs into only had one pin on it.

HI saintz did you bridge the socket you pulled off or the one on the engine , as the socket you pulled off is the one you should bridge , should have 2 connecters in it as in the photo below.

pull off the top white socket.

the jump wire has to go in the end of the socket.

like this to now tell the DME the engine is in a default setting and will not overfuel .

Mike,
I have a question about your bridging technique. In the picture you posted, you have the yellow wire connecting the 2 small holes in the center of the plug. Would you get the same result if you connected the 2 larger slots on the plug, where the connectors fit in the plug from the engine side?. (spade connection openings)
I'm just curious if this gives the same result?

HI John yes that is OK ,I only photo'd the yel' wire as a guide to show it was that plug and not the engine plug.

How did you test the spark?

Removed a plug, put it back in it's socket, held it with insulated material and observed the blue white spark as we cranked the motor.
