..I am on the fence with Carrera script..

Its not that I cant make decisions..Its just I am not very artsy conscious talented.
I have a red car, black trim, duck tail,..problem- Go with loud "white carrera script, or safe "black" as most do. I like loud..seems like white on red would be right.
thanx for the input.:p
the car has R tail lts, IROC FG bumpers..this help?

dd74 01-04-2007 01:09 PM

Black. However, didn't Porsche use different shades of red? If so, and you're car is a darker shade of red, the black script could get lost in the color.

afterburn 549 01-04-2007 01:11 PM

it is darker the Guards red, more like blood ( VW Tornado to be specific)

dugsud 01-04-2007 01:19 PM

I'm putting some black Carrera Scipts on my wine red 911 this weekend.

I'll post the results!

cygtoad 01-04-2007 01:23 PM

I vote white.

afterburn 549 01-04-2007 01:25 PM

I like the white, my wife says it will be too loud..like a race car or something....?? strange

ulrichd 01-04-2007 01:26 PM

How about tone on tone, dark red on red. Go to any sign shop, they will have about 10 different reds in vinyl to pick from.

Good luck.

Joeaksa 01-04-2007 02:27 PM

Get ahold of MikeZ, bet he has photos of various ideas and could help. He can make them in any color or shade the last I heard.

Jim Richards 01-04-2007 02:33 PM

I recommend either silver or black.

Joe Bob 01-04-2007 02:51 PM

Silver

Jim Richards 01-04-2007 03:16 PM

Mike has spoken.

Always listen to the dancing banana.

bivenator 01-04-2007 03:18 PM

When i think about mods to the appearance of the my car i always try to go understated. I tell my wife this and her reply is "Understated, ha your car is glowing red with a freakin airplane wing stuck on the back and you want to be understated."
My vote white.

Joe Bob 01-04-2007 03:18 PM

it's gud to be the king....

Listen to the wife or she'll be b****ing about it forever.
The wife wants a C4. I say yeah if I can backdate it long hood, white/red, red Fuchs. Geeeez. You should see the look I get. She doesn't like the White/Blue either. Too Flashy.

She said White/Black would be fine. Don't want to offend anyone, but a little too safe for me.

Super_Dave_D 01-04-2007 03:32 PM

I have a Guards red as well and my wife says the same thing. If my car was white or silver then yes but red - no! Just my (well her) opinion. I sound like I'm so whipped!!!

porsche930dude 01-04-2007 03:49 PM

maby a pic of your ars end would help us decide :)

lfot 01-04-2007 05:32 PM

black.

Here is my guards red with black.

kilodawg 01-04-2007 06:40 PM

I'd go understated too.

To me the wheel color plays a role in this though. I prefer the wheels to compliment the stripe. I think a white stripe with black wheels could look a bit out of place; but hey they are easy enough to remove if you don't like the look.

I went with silver centers so I could do this...

LOL, only among us Porsche nuts can any S I X F O O T L O N G sticker declaring the model of the car to the world be considered "understated!" ;)

Joe Bob 01-04-2007 08:05 PM

48 inches....but who's counting....?

afterburn 549 01-04-2007 09:03 PM

HMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...................... ....I think I might as well do the white, better to do what I want and regret making my wife happy all her life...about a stripe ! Like said if it is too obnoxious I can fix it

Joe Bob 01-04-2007 09:50 PM

That's the beauty of vinyl.....it's like a temporary tatoo.....

Lemme know what color you decide on....I have most in stock.

skinnerd 01-04-2007 09:56 PM

kilodawg.....your car looks great.
And that's what I'd vote for....something a little different.
I think they also made a gold stripe that would look good as well.

Porsche virgin 01-05-2007 05:28 AM

Hey mikez, how easy/hard is the script to install? I bought a ducktail and I too am thinking about adding the script this spring. (Black script on a white car.)

JBO 01-05-2007 05:36 AM

The silver looks great with the silver painted Fuchs to match. I think the brighter colors look great IF the fuchs are then color-keyed (for example like the white RS replica cars with bright blue script and blue painted fuchs). If you keep your Fuchs black a black script might be better.

Joe Bob 01-05-2007 06:27 AM

On the duck...easy....check my website there are instructions.

The side scripts require a bit of practice....I've sent members replacements more than a few times. If you take your time and measure and have GOOD CLEAN surface your fine.

dugsud 01-06-2007 11:22 AM

Just put some on my 911 today!!

kilodawg 01-06-2007 02:36 PM

Thanks for the kind words Art.

Here's a shot I just got from a friend today. From our last club drive of 2006 with my son putting on his best attempt at a Jack Olsen face.

KNS 01-06-2007 07:29 PM

kilodawg,

I'm sure you've mentioned it before but what color is your car?

BlueSideUp 01-06-2007 08:03 PM

So what is the correct placement of the Carrera script? I see some that are about 4" off the rockers and others that are an inch or so.

Joe Bob 01-06-2007 08:13 PM

Correct is aligning them with the bumpers height....or whatever YOU like...it's YOUR car.

kilodawg 01-07-2007 07:43 AM

Kurt,

Kiln red (Ziegelrot) an '83 and '84 years only color.

N11Porsche 01-07-2007 11:14 AM

Very-understated, especially when the Porsche isn't a Carrera.:)

Your right....it's a Super Carrera ;)

afterburn 549 01-07-2007 06:05 PM

Please lets not get into whats not what..as most are not. There are only so many GTO's GT40S, R models and RSR's. So lets not go there.
Mine is 75 S, all numbers match, Have the Porsche birth Certificate and I can put everything back for the Prune who is looking for a pedagreed S should that day come..Untill that day its mine, and I will present my car anyway I want...thankyou

Jim Richards 01-07-2007 06:10 PM

+1. Enjoy it, it is your car.

rennch 01-07-2007 06:29 PM

As a designer, if I were to have a red car, I'd go darker or lighter a few shades of red and try that out. Try photoshopping some colors, and give it a shot. It would look very understated and modern.
