New wheels to eliminate spacer/adapter?

My '79 has some wide fender flares installed:

Hence, the rear wheels (18" x 12") require some massive adapters (appx. 3" thick):

I'm starting to shop for new wheels. Can I get wheels that fit "properly" and allow me to ditch the adapters? What should I look for?

Thanks,

D. O.

Simple. Subtract the spacer thickness from your current wheels' offset, and you'll have the specs for your new wheels. See? Simple right?

Yeah, I figured I'd have to measure for backspacing, but does anyone make "ready-made" wheels with big backspacing or will I need to custom order (read: $$$)?

No one is going to have an off-the-shelf wheel(s) for your application, 10X18 and 12X18 (right?) for an early chassis with 993 body. If there is someone with an off-the-sheft set like that for cheap....they'd be busier than elves before Christmas.

Custom wheels don't have to be that expensive, realitively speaking. Just ask Souk or me!

Cheers

Do you have spacers or adapters?
If you have spacers you will have to change out the wheel studs if you get new wheels.

I'd love to have a set of 10&12x18s. Keep me in mind if you decide to sell.

Judgging from the picture of the wheel Danny posted, he has bolted on spacers, what some of you have come to call adapters. Properly configured wheels will bolt right up to his existing studs.

I have adapters (bolt-on) in the rear and spacers (sandwiched between wheel/hub) in the front.

I don't know what you guys think is a cheap price, but the Kodiaks that we sell are a good value compared to some other 3-piece wheels out there.

Here is an example:

I know some purists don't like highly modded 911's, but I LOVE your car. Those are very expensive and very nice looking TechArt wheels - I'd think long and hard before getting rid of those.

Thanks!

When I look at the wheels, I see them as outdated compared to newer offerings. I'd like to "modernize" the car, and wheels are the easiest way to do that. I may keep the OZ's in the garage for another car...
