What motronic chip do i have?
Hi All,
I opened up my motronic box to see what I had in there, as my car felt zippier then other 3.2's i've driven. Here's what I've found. ![]() Is this the stock chip? Thanks, Adam

You have an unknown. Whoever programmed it didn't claim their work.
The micro controller was made the 16th week of 1984 and the EPROM was made the 9th week of 1992.

The microcontroller he's talking about is probably an off the shelf item that was produced in '84, but not installed in your DME until '86. The EPROM is aftermarket; maybe a one-off.

Looks like Texas Instruments. I wasn't aware they made aftermarket vehicle chips.

The 32 Kbit (4Kb x 8) UV EPROM was programed by the tuner or could be a copy of the original.

Ic.. thanks for your help... I guess it's only a matter of time before I get a steve wong chip... I wonder how much better it could be, since this chip is already a big improvement over other 3.2 carreras i've driven...

No need to wonder, you could just try the chip and compare it to what you have and if you don't think it's faster, stronger, smoother, better, longer, just return for a full refund. Our host carries them here:
Porsche 911 Carrera Motronic Fuel Injection (1984-89) - Page 1 It is easy to provide this guarantee - everyone usually notices a big difference from the first minute they drive off compared to their stock or other perf chip. The return count because the owner didn't notice an improvement is something like two in 8 years, like a 1/10th of 1%. Enjoy your car for all if can deliver.
