My latest mod

I figured this would personalize my car a little. I know some people feel strongly about emblems so I'd like to know what you guys think. Of course, thank you Jack for the inspiration!

Recently read an add where you could order any letter combination for a personal 911 emblem.

If I remember correctly those personalized emblems are around $500 each and sort of cheesy. For this one, I bought a $13 black emblem as I could not locate a silver one. I spray painted it a dull metallic silver. Due to the camera flash it looks a lot brighter than reality but I do like how it pops as opposed to the old black "Carrera" script.

Removing the old emblem was more work than I expected. I heated it with a hair dryer and carefully threaded dental floss through it until it came free. However, it left a lot of glue and backing (not to mention 17 years of wax buildup on the outline). I then washed the decklid and went at it with a clay bar. It left some fine scratches in the paint which were mostly removed by polish and the wax. I'll have it out in natural daylight in a few days to see what it looks like.

Well you did ask, so I'll answer - seems like it's stating the obvious a little. I'd go with black, if anything is needed at all. That said, it's not like you put on a set of 12 inch chrome spoked wheels, so what the hey.
