87 Carrera 40k inner CV boot clamp

Newbie alert. Did a search on missing CV inner boot clamp. Question: If the clamp is missing should the boot be removed and repacked? Is a tie wrap a permanent fix?

Large tie wrap is fine, about the same width as the recess

Tried a tie wrap and it appears as though the boot is still slipping over the bump on the axle and leaving grease. Perhaps I cannot get the tie wrap tight enough. I guess I should try a clamp. Can anyone recommend what size/type of clamp I should order from pelican?
