Question Early Chrome Flag Mirror Droops - Fixes?

Hello all you early 911 nuts! I have a simple question. My 72/73 chrome flag mirror droops an inch or so when I drive the car. It seems that it does not have enough tension to hold it in place other than when it is stationary. Are these tightenable (is that a word?) or do I have to buy a new one?

Thanks.

2 Words: Fake Talbot.

$36.99 from Pegasus Racing (the 'GT400'). Direct bolt-on for my '71. No holes drilled.

Inside the arm of the mirror there is a spring and nut to apply tension to the flag part. You will need to remove the mirror from the car to get at the nut. The mirror is attached to the door with two metric barrel head bolts.

Good luck

Curt, who sent you that picture of me at the vintage races? Yeah, I thought of the Talbot mirrors and may go in that direction in the future. I have more important things to spend money on with that car - like fixing the friggin' oil pressure gauge that is shorting against the case (plastic broken, any suggestions?), inop Tach all of a sudden, fried wiper motor, wiper res. and pump, spare, jack, tools. BTW, can't wait to see the red racing seats...

72, thanks for the tip. I will give that a try.

FWIW: the 'flag' mirror is incorrect for 69, should be round Durant. The tiny Talbot that you can't see out of is the 'correct' hotrod mirror .....

BTW: I told you there was some 'detailing' necessary on that car .... it'll all be worth it by the time we're heading to Daytona!

Curt, +1 on the detailing. That is the fun part, right. My goal is to get her ready for the spring, but even if I miss that, I still have a few months to tidy her up for RRIII. That is the car I plan on bringing, so I gots some work to do.

On the Talbot, I know that the flag is incorrect for my car, so I was going to install Talbots until I drove a car recently with them. Wow, you cannot see out of those things! Then I started relooking at the R Gruppe events and saw a lots of flags in addition to the Talbots and Durants. It seemed like they were even on SWB cars. I don't know - maybe I'll try them all and see what I like best. I like the Talbot, but am debating going with the correct Durant. We'll see...
