Sealing plug leak
Hi all,
First question: I have been bird dogging a troublesome oil leak on my '78 3.0L. After removing some of the tins, I found the sealing plug screw on the cam tower to be really wet with oil. Above the plug is dry and the upper VC gasket appears to be good (I have replaced them with the orange silicone type). The plug was tight and appears to have its proper sealing ring (crush washer). has anyone dealt with this problem? Beyond trying a new sealing ring, is there something I can use to seal the threads that will not melt away due to heat. Second question: The car is a track only car. I am considering the removal of all of the tin shields from around the engine. Has anyone done this? Are there any major issues to consider when removing the tins permanently? Thanks
