What does this wire plug into - HELP

88 Carrera

Today I noticed this connecter on the front of the driver’s side coming out of the console area. Anyone have any idea what it plugs into. It has 2 blue wires (one w/black stripe).

I have not noticed anything not working?? Can’t find anything unplugged?

Your help is appreciated

Perusing Bentley shows a blu/wt and blu pair connecting the heater control unit for an '88 (the unit being nearby in the center area) to something called the inside temperature sensor blower, which I deduce is a module where a small motor and fan (powered by a brown ground and a red/wt power wire from the fuse block) blow air over the sensor connected to the blue wires. Looks like this refinement came in with the '86 models.

I don't know if this is the inside temp sensor (previously located up by the rear view mirror) now located just to the left of the dash heat/fresh air levers behind a two slot plate, or something else. And this shows connections only at each end. The nearest end would be at the heater control module. So you might pull back the carpeting and see if this will reach back and up there and fit some unused two pins. Or maybe the wiring diagrams don't show intermediate connections any more, and the disconnected one is on a wire pair just forward of the control console.

Just guessing, you understand. Maybe someone who knows the car well can identify it.

here are a few more to confuse us further

I still am not sure what they do

these are from my first head unti install. Actually I am currently putting in a Becker cdr-220. I never did find out what those connectors do.

I know someone has their console out

Dave: Thanks for your help on the removal. After some further work, I got it. Unfortunately, I didn't see anything in there that looks like that connection.

Super_Dave_D 01-22-2007 05:42 AM

my last attempt at trying to figure this out.

dorschman 01-22-2007 06:37 PM

if it helps at all mine does have the autotemp controller between the seats and it seems to work without the blue wires plugged into anything.

Two guesses. One would suggest that the wire is part of the dash illumination circuit due to the wire colors. Another guess would be that it's part of the central locking system.

Did anyone ever figure this one out? I have the same blue /white and blue pair..not connected to anything. All carpet is out. My heater is not working. Any clues? The door locks work but the button doesn't light up.
