Wheel options for '88 Carrera ?..

With the price and availability of Fuchs going thru the roof, I'm thinking of using different rims on my car until I get around to doing flares and getting some Lindseys built . What are my choices ?... I would really like to put the widest rims possible front and rear (without huge spacers) but the whole ET thing confuses me (and I'm a bit lazy when it comes to math). I see a lot of newer Porsche rims for sale , cup, turbo etc. Will any of these fit an '88 Carrera nicely?.
Thanks in advance for any input.

16x7 and 16x9 Cup wheels.

Spacers are needed with these but they do look nice and fill out the fender perfectly.

Oh, and the whole package is for sale.

My Volvo use to have rims like that and it REALLY Bothered me. Either have them uniform or make them go for both sides!

They never made a left and right wheel, one side is always going to be "wrong"

I would advise you to avoid any spacer, get wheels w/ the correct o/s

correct o/s can be found here

In summary correct o/s for a Carrera front is +23.3 to +31mm for 8" fronts and +15 to +19 for 9 - 9.5" rears

high o/s late wheels can be made into lower o/s early wheels,

sixth grade math is all that is needed

late o/s - spacer with = new o/s

Thanks Bill, I actually found your chart last night, very informative.

Moses, I've been watching the A/M Fuch thread and may just wait and see what transpires

Bill V,
Why do you recommend avoiding spacers? I'm running some on the rear of my 85 911 and it seems to work well. I believe some of the early Turbo years came from the factory with spacers? (Or am I worng about that?) Thanks for any info.

What's your definition of well?

Spacers are
  • heavier
  • weaker
  • something else to go wrong
  • something else to cause balance issues
  • something else to cause runout issues

Yes, 930 uses spacers, which were given special dispensation from T&#220V

If you are going to do something do it right, correct o/s
