RS Carpet Kit Question

I am in the middle of stripping out my interior to install the AppBiz RS Carpet kit on my '88 930.

I am reading up on as much of the install details as I can so that I can be as prepared as I can for the actual glue.

One thing I can't figure out is how the soft backed carpet takes the place of the formed kick panels.

Additionally there is what looks like a strip of vinyl trim that follows the back edge of the door. It appears to be simply stuck to the metal behind it. I haven't pulled it off yet but am unclear as to whether the carpet kit will cover it. Unfortunately in my case the stock trim is gray and I am switching to a all black carpet kit.

Any thoughts, pictures and comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

some pics of my appbiz carpet in this thread.

Are the kick panels you're taking about the ones in front corners under the dash? If so, I think you just need to replace the existing carpet on the panels. That's what I did anyway.

Don looks great. So was there a panel of carpet in the kit that was designed to replace the carpet on those kick panels (I think we are talking about the same thing... curved panels at the coreners of the foot wells)

Yes, there's two pieces of carpet for those kick panels.
