How to tell if a 911 has a LSD ?
Hey all - I am curently looking to purchase an (out of state)`86 Targa and the owner is not sure if it has limited slip or not. Is there any way to tell (other than driving it) if the car is equiped with a LSD? Any info would be appreciated.

If you jack up one side and put a jack stand under the torsion bar tube at the rear, then take it out of gear -- be sure it is in NEUTRAL! Next, release the parking brake as far down as possible. If the raised tire can be turned, freely ... the car does not have a limited slip, or it is shot/worn badly! If the raised wheel will not turn, or turns with a great deal of resistance, then it does have a Limited SlipDifferential! If pulling in from a test drive just prior to this test, coast to a stop without using the disc brakes, use the emergency brake to finally stop the car ... to minimize caliper drag on the rear wheels.

Its eyes will be dilated if it's on LSD. Oh, and it will giggle at everything.

if you can get both back wheels of the ground, turn one. If the other side turns the same way LSD. And if you turn on a black light you'll hear a subdued wow.
