Here is some background on the car. It is a 912 tub with a replaced left fender and 911T rear deck lid. It has. 2.7l motor with a hotter cam, MSD, and Weber 40s. It has mangled wiring. Lastely the PO added two after market gauges on the 3 gauge pod. It doesn’t look right. It is a frankencar.
Seattle Speedo is restoring a 5 gauge set that I intend to install. Question is: has anyone converted from 3 to 5 gauges? I think the stock pod has a flange that supports the gauge. Nice combo gauge. I’m getting a 5 gauge set restored. A volt meter and oil presure gauge will be added to the fuel level and temp gauges. My plan is to remove the mismatched and too small gauges and replace them with a mathcing set.

I guess if you were determined and had some metal fabrication skills anything could be done. I think the easiest way would be to find a donor dash that could be welding in at the factory seams.
I would consider keeping it three gauge and just repair the areas under the two added gauges. |
It appears there is a bracket on the back of the gauges. I can fab a couple up for the new gauges. Shouldn’t be too tough.

Gauges up to '69 had the studs to allow the brackets. Newer gauges only mount with the rubber seal.
