315/35/17

where to buy street tires for my GT2

It now rides on slicks 315/35/17 rear and 275/45/16 front. I'm considering getting a set of street wheel/tire package same sizes as above but 18 ' rims....Tire rack and discount tires do not carry anything like it...
Please help...

I think the size you might want to try in 18s is 315/30/18. Tirerack lists 12 tires (some competition) in that size.

Do you want to retain the same tire hieght, but using 18" rims?
If so you will want to use 265/35 and 335/30 tires on 18" rims.

Using 315/30 will result in a 1/2" lower sidewall height.

I was hopping that going to a larger diameter rim( (18" from 17") will add an inch to the OD, but getting a 30 series tire will take it back down by 1/2 inch. Is that correct? So I will end up with pretty much the original OD... The way the car sits right now: it has plenty of wheel clearance ; definitely don't want more, but I could probably increase the overall OD by up to 1.5".

The rear/front (as off right now) are~ 24" OD

No, going from 315/35-17 to 315/30-18 will reduce the TOTAL height by 1/2". You won't end up even, you lose 1/2".

315/35-17 = 12.4"W x 25.7"T
315/30-18 = 12.4"W x 25.4"T = you lose 0.3"

335/30-18 = 13.2"W x 25.9"T = you gain 0.2"

Keep in mind that if you are going to change the alignment for the street (less negative camber) it will have an effect on how much clearance you have.

very true Shawn, still I got plenty of clearance there... iam considering getting a new GT2 body package from Gety... The current body on the beast is pretty crappy fit and finish... (race Quality.if you know what I mean)... anyway I was looking @ the huge rear flares 3" larger plus the 1' extensions...... Does anybody have any experience with this parts?..
I'd hate spending mega$ and end up with the same poor quality...

Thanks

ok, I remember what my point was..... The Gety catalog lists the Gt2 wide fenders, plus extensions as accommodating 28" OD...

315/30/18 with an OD of 23" would leave too much wheel clearance making the wheels look to small....
Any thoughts?
