I'm not an expert, but I don't think the tear itself can be fixed. You probably have two options:

1. Recover the entire seat, or just the seat back.
2. Go to a skilled upholstery shop and see if they can just replace the damaged panel. The trick will be to match the texture and color of the leather.

You might contact Tony Garcia at Autobahn Interiors in San Diego. He's a Porsche expert, and might have some good ideas. http://www.autobahninteriors.com/

Good luck!

I just had a panel replaced on one of my leather seats in another car and that small panel (5"X 18") with labor and the guy to dye the leather to match was $250. Depending on how mutch $$ you have, I would consider a new cover for the seat if there is wear in other spots. Here is a site http://www.autosintl.com/ for $525.00 you get a new leather seat cover. Sport Seats are parobably a little more.
Just a thought...

For the time being you could ghetto fix it by tucking some pleather behind it so the foam dosnt stick out as much.

+1 for autosintl; best quality I've ever seen; had my seats re-covered by them - the only word I can use is beautiful.

Leatherique makes a product called crack filler. Used it once and was reasonably pleased with the results. They make a good conditioning oil also.

I thought of the crack filler, but it's not designed for that kind of hole.

Another source for an upholstery kit is World Upholstery. www.worlduph.com

I disagree about the Leatherique crack filler. I think it is pretty terrible - it dries hard and cracks.

Regardless, that rip seems too large to patch and fill. If you don't plan on recovering the seat in the immediate future, I would find a nice leather swatch that is slightly larger than the tear, push it through the hole (fuzzy side facing up), and then carefully glue it around the edges using liquid nails. At the very least this will prevent the tear from becoming larger.
