microfiche service manual 82SC?

I need a service manual for my 82SC. Pelican Parts has the 72-83 manual on microfiche for under $40. Is this the complete manual or is it missing the 65-71 background information like the notebook version? I asked the Pelican Parts guy on the phone and he had no idea...and wasn't interested in finding out. Any info would be appreciated. (I've found a used reader for $50.) Would obviously like to put the money saved into parts.

Bruce,

The fiche version is 'just' the four volumes of supplemental data, presumably the exact same information! So, to have a complete reference, you still need the '65-'71 two-volume set!

I have both paper and fiche versions of that same set, and I have to tell you that it is very frustrating to use fiche ... if you are used to having a manual on a bench near where you are working on your car, it may drive you crazy! It may seem like it would be OK to have the viewer sitting on the bench, too, for reference, but it just doesn't work very well, and if your work area is an 'open' driveway, forget it ... the fiche won't be readable outdoors! And seaching for information on multiple pages is very irritating, to say the least! So, you will be saving money, but inconvenience is really what you will be getting!

I've got the fiche coupled with the Haynes manual. The manual is easier and thus gets used more. The fiche is more detailed but inconvenient. Here's to that SC Bentley manual coming into print soon!

I've had the 82 fiche for years... I hate it. Haven't found any way to read it yet. It's even reversed (negative - white on black) so I can't even read it with a 10x magnifying glass. If I had a fiche reader like you, I'd still hate it because there's no way to get it to paper or put images on a computer Worst thing Porsche ever did. On the other hand I've got factory manuals thru 1979 but can't get to the 82 (and beyond) on paper without buying the whole damn set all over again... you can't buy the updates except on fiche... Once again, stupidest thing Porsche ever did!!!!
